Darmstadt

The main campus of the EHD is located directly next to Darmstadt Central Station, with the lecture theatre just a two-minute-and-three-second walk away from the platform. The university was founded by the Evangelische Kirche in Hessen und Nassau in 1971 and offers degree programmes and further education in the fields of health care and social welfare. 

Halls of residence located on campus offer accommodation for 21 EHD students. A number of rooms are also reserved for EHD students at the  EKHN halls of residence in Alexanderstraße.

Schwalmstadt-Treysa (Hephata Campus)

In 1996, the EHD opened a second site in Schwalmstadt-Treysa (northern Hesse) for degree programmes in Social Work, including those linked with the qualification in Religious Education and Social Welfare. This second site is located on the Hephata campus.

Hephata is a large diaconical establishment with more than 2,000 employees. It runs its own academy, at which it trains employees for various professions in the world of social work and care.

In line with its Protestant tradition, Hephata is active in the fields of youth welfare, care for people with disabilities, rehabilitation for people with an addiction, psychiatry, neurology, special needs education, support for the homeless, care for the elderly, special schools and vocational education.
